[I really want to update here, but I don't want to make the same old post. I think it'd be fun if we could dream up a few situations for our characters that aren't based on anything historic, as long as we stick to our character. I still have the community I sat up for this journal, but I'm unsure as to how I'd like to set it up. I just wanted to update and let everyone know I'm still around, just afraid of being the same ol' same ol' :) ]

I know I keep saying I'll update more often, but I don't. I wanna let every one know I'm still around here, just insanely busy. I promise movie news and music news and whatever else news as soon as I have the time to tell ya about it. No really, I promise ;) .

Always,
Dean

Well, At War With The Army is out. Now it's up to you, so everybody go see it at least twice.

I gotta say it's pretty damn neat to have a movie with your name on it, top billing no less. And the whole thing wasn't hard to shoot at all, it just kinda flew by. I think it comes across that way too, just as plain fun. It's not hard work for me and Jerry to do what we do, it's fun. It's probably a little harder for him because he tends to get really involved with the business side, but he enjoys that (needless to say I don't want anything to do with it). Anyway, I think the whole thing came out just great and we've already really clicked into place with this movie thing. We're already filming the next one.

Here're a few little previews:

And the single best reason to see the movie:

I just wanted to pop in and say I'm still around and sorry for not updating as much as I should. Between them trying to figure out what they want me to record and doing clubs and shooting "At War With The Army" I haven't been around here as much as I should be. But I'll do better, promise ;) .

I have to say I'm a pretty happy man right now. Jeanne and I are doing fantastically (though I miss the kids since they're with the ex--wish I could see them more), and I can't believe all that's been happening to me and Jer. The reviews for My Friend Irma Goes West are just incredible for the two us. They up-ed our parts from the first movie a whole lot, and we really got to mess around more--which the critics seem to like so far.

Jerry and me had to go to some party last night for the movie, and I naturally didn't want to go to it. I have a habit of keeping too quiet because I don't know how to speak good English, so I keep my mouth shut because and I'm bound to say something wrong or stupid and look like a fool. So, a lot of those gossip columnist are writing me off as stuck up and big-headed. That's my reward for going somewhere I didn't wanna go and staying out until the morning, geez. Anyway, we didn't get in until around two, but I woke up at seven anyway and had to go golf--you know, like some people have to have coffee in the morning, I have to go golf. I'm planning on letting Jerry work out the routine for tonite while I go work out a nap and then the showers--that's the magic of the act, everyone; me being well rested with a round of golf done and being clueless as to what's going on during the show ;) .

Our nightclub act is insane. We can't get people to leave the theater after the show, so we have to start throwing signed pictures out to the street to draw people out so the next crowd can get in. Last week some girl ripped my jacket off when Jerry and I were mobbed leaving a show. Can you imagine such a thing? I'd never seen anything like that before (not that I entirely minded having my clothes being ripped off...). On top of the nightclub act, since the first two movies did so good for us, we're working on At War With The Army now, which'll be our first movie with top billing. We're, obviously, in the army, Jerry's a loveable screw-up that gets into bad situations, and I have girls chasing me and sing and get mixed up with Jerry. The basics, and good, funny stuff. I hope the momentum from Irma carries on. And now, a final plug for Irma Goes West....

If this doesn't make you want to go see My Friend Irma Goes West, I don't know what will...

Dean

Well, you can go see me on the big screen now. I have to say I really liked making the picture. It was a little surreal at first, but I thought it was easy and basically a good time. I think Jerry and me did all right for a first outing ('course that's up to everyone else though, itn't it?).

My Friend Irma

Jerry and I have a deal with Hal Wallis that looks like it's going to work out all right. They're already getting a sequal ready for us, and it looks like me and Jer'll have more things focused on us in it. And, as if that wasn't enough, it's going to be called "My Friend Irma Goes West". I'm ready to get that one started up, needless to say.

Me and Jer are also working for NBC with a radio show. Just being on the radio isn't nearly as much fun as doing live acts, but it gives us somewhere else to be. Our live shows are going great. People are mobbing us, screaming for us--they won't even leave the show when we're done. It's plain crazy--fun, but crazy.

Oh, yeah--about a month ago, I got divorced and married the gorgeous, wonderful, terrific, beautiful, marvelous girl you see below, Jeanne. How 'bout that?

Always,
Dean

I just noticed I haven't updated in a month, so I decided I'd better check in because I don't wanna be lazy...well, I do, but it's a'gin the rules around here. Jer wandered in here and redecorated the journal, but he sat here and swore like an angel he didn't read any of it or write anything in it... I didn't believe him, and it's a good thing because I just had to delete an entry "I" made about how I've been developing strong "feelings" for him... But it's okay, I'm just waiting for him to put on the blazer he'll be wearing today (there's peanut butter smeared all over the inside of both sleeves >:D ).

Some very intelligent people made the wise choice to give me and Jer a movie, finally, My Friend Irma. It's not "our" movie, but, hell, we'll own it ;) . Doing a movie has been pretty interesting so far, at least different from performing in clubs. It's sort of hard to capture insanity on film, but I think we're doing it okay. I was really surprised with my first screen test for the movie. All these big shots were slapping me on the back and congratulating me. The very first time I did a screen test years ago was a disaster. They watched for a few seconds then shut it down and said I'd never make it in the movies because they couldn't understand me. I guess my speech has changed a little since then. Jerry teases the way I talk all the time and says I went from Italy to Alabama. Anyway, at least the brass liked what I was doing, so that's a good sign.

But, boy, Jer had an awful time with his first screen test. It wasn't his fault at all cos they had him playing something totally different than "Lewis", but that kid...he knows his shit. He talked Hal Wallis into giving us both another screen test where we were actually Martin & Lewis, and we really have us a set up going now. I kinda like this acting business so far, except the getting up at 5:30AM scene. That hour's only good for two things--either getting up to go golf, or just getting to bed.

Well kiddies, that's all for now. Jer and me are gonna take Hal's car down the street and hide it before we start to film. Hal just loves us, heh.

Always,
Dean

Merry Christmas and good cheer and joy to the world and all that stuff [25 Dec 2005|08:17am]

I haven't updated here in the ole journal much, but I thought I'd at least take a minuet to say I hope everybody's having a Merry Christmas right now. If you're not, spike the eggnog.

Well, here I am with a journal. 'Why did he decided to start a journal?' you may be asking yourself. The answer's simple: For the hell of it! I can talk about anything I want anytime I want. Doesn't that sound fun? It will be for me, anyway :D .
